Some tickets are still available for a charity hockey game in Windsor involving a number of NHL stars.
The All In 4 ALS: Jonesy's game, will take place at the WFCU Centre on Saturday, Aug. 12.
The game is in honour of former Windsor Spitfires head coach Bob Jones and his fight against ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.
Friend and fellow coach Bob Boughner says Jones, who is currently an assistant coach with the Ottawa Senators, was diagnosed with ALS in December.
"One thing he said to us right away is he wants to raise awareness and raise money, try to find a cure and be a help with other people that are affected by this. All of the money we raise is going to go to Sunnybrook Foundation. Which is a hospital in Toronto. The biggest hospital in Canada for ALS research. As well as the local Essex County ALS."
Following the diagnosis, Boughner and DJ Smith decided to arrange the charity hockey game.
About 30 professional players have all committed to play and Boughner says you can expect to see some big NHL names at the WFCU Centre.
"Well there will be a lot of familiar faces with some guys that have played for the Spitfires. Superstars that have gone on and played in the NHL with Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique, Mikhail Sergachev, Cam Fowler's of the world. But we're also brining in a lot of guys that played for Jonesy in Ottawa. Brady Tkachuk, Josh Norris. Also guys that I have under my wing in Detroit. Dylan Larkin, the captain. The newest member, Alex DeBrincat."
He says they also want to bring in some local younger talent from across Essex County who were playing in the OHL and have since been drafted.
Boughner says the goal is to sellout the WFCU Centre.
"We're getting close and there are tickets still available. I would suggest people get their tickets beforehand. There will be walkups as well but we're approaching that 6,000 mark and it'll be a busy rink. So there's a lot going on that day and I think everybody is going to have a really enjoyable day."
