The Ottawa Police Arson unit is looking into a fire in Vanier, calling it suspicious.

Ottawa Fire crews were called to 155 Longpré St. just before 5:00 a.m. Thursday.

The home was vacant and appeared to be under construction.

Firefighters saying flames were heavy on one side of the house upon their arrival, and they are now undertaking a defensive operation.

A second alarm was called in shortly after crews arrived on the scene.

Fire crews were kept busy Friday morning with a second fire in the east end, this one coming from an underground parking lot at 240 Brittany Dr.

Fire officials say a city worker called them just before 4:00 a.m., reporting smoke coming from the parking lot. Firefighters discovered a fire and steam upon their arrival, and quickly put it out.

They say the smoke made accessing the area difficult.

No injuries were reported, and a fire investigator is allegedly not required for this incident.
