The 2017 NHL Playoffs kicked off in Ottawa on Wednesday with celebrations across the city.
To start the day, Mayor Jim Watson made his traditional bet and made his prediction.
Watson placed his bet against Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy, Elizabeth Moore Aubin.
"If the Senators lose, for some really strange reason which it won't happen," he said. "I'm going to provide Beavertails to Elizabeth and her colleagues at the U.S. Embassy."
The Mayor said he wanted to start off modestly and build up the bet as the Ottawa Senators progress in the playoffs.
Aubin revealed that if Boston were to lose the series, she would provide Boston cream pies.
Normally these playoff bets are made between mayors but Boston’s mayor Marty Walsh said he had been unsuccessful with bets in the past and didn’t want to jinx the team.
At 12:30 p.m. the mayor will be joined by Ottawa Senators President Tom Anselmi and Spartacat to raise the Sens flag at city hall.
Following the flag raising ceremony, the Sens Mile street signs will be put up along Elgin Street.
The Ottawa Senators face off against the Boston Bruins at the Canadian Tire Centre at 7 p.m.
You can catch the game on TSN 1200.
