After having their clothing donation bins stolen late last year, Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa can now consider the case closed.
After police found the five stolen bins repainted and rebranded with a different company's logo, 35-year-old Brennan Cartier has been charged with mischief and possession of stolen property.
Susan Ingram is the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa and says that with donations from the community, the bins are a major source of bringing dollars into the charity.
She says if the theifs were to have a large number of the bins around the city, it would be a profitable way of scamming money.
Ingram went on to say that she doesn't expect the thefts to continue, but if problems do persist then the group is considering attaching GPS devices to the bins.
Police are warning the public to always research a company before putting anything in a donation box.
