Ontario Provincial Police say a 40-year-old Cornwall man has learned a costly lesson about the metric system.
Officers pulled a man over on the 401 westbound near Brockville early Sunday morning for speeding.
The man protested, saying he couldn’t possibly be driving above the 100 km/h speed limit, because he was driving 98.
It turns out he was. The car was clocked at 98 miles per hour, police say, which is roughly 158 km/h.
The man’s vehicle has been impounded; his license has been suspended for 7 days; and he will be in a Brockville court at a later date to face a stunt driving charge, which comes with a fine of at least $2000 upon conviction.
