Charges laid after attempted carjacking in Nepean

Police were called to a parking lot at Baseline Rd. and Woodroffe Ave. at around 930 a.m. Tuesday.
Ottawa Police have laid charges against an 18-year-old man following an attempted robbery and carjacking near Algonquin College.
Police were called to a parking lot at Baseline Rd. and Woodroffe Ave. at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspect had already fled, after being scared away by a passerby, police say, but he was located later that day on Hazeldean Rd. in a car police allege had been stolen from the Deerfield Dr. area that same day.
He was arrested after a brief foot chase.
Ryan Lunney, of Ottawa, is charged with:
- Attempted robbery
- Assault
- Impersonation
- Breaking and Entering with Intent
- Theft of Motor vehicle
- Flight from Police
- Resist arrest
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Lunney was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
