Ottawa's green bin program could be expanding.
The city's Environment and Climate Protection Committee will look at a report suggesting plastic bags and dog waste be included in green bins for weekly pick up.
The report suggests this would eliminate the need for special liner bags and reduce odour and pest concerns.
The change could take effect starting mid-2019.
Expanding the green bin service this way would cost the city an extra $626,000 per year, or an extra 15 cents per month for the average household.
The committee will consider the report next Monday.
