The City's Transportation Committee Chair says he's passing along suggestions he receives about improving safety on the Laurier bike lanes.
Keith Egli says since yesterday's fatal crash he has received all kinds of ideas from the public and fellow councillors and he wants staff to look into whether they are feasible.
"One of the options suggested was barring right-hand turns. I'm not for or against any option at this point in time. I'm keeping an open mind. I welcome all suggestions and staff are going through and considering all of them."
He says they want to know the costs of suggestions like installing special signals for bikes and the overall impact it would have on all kinds of traffic.
Egli points out the police investigation is still ongoing and that it's too early to say what kind of changes if any will be made to the bike lanes.
