The City of Ottawa says it will be making interim payments to those most critically injured in the Westboro bus crash.
The payments will be provided by the city's insurers to provide immediate assistance while those who were seriously injured and their family go through the long legal process.
So far, arrangements for interim payments have been reached with just one victim, represented by lawyer Derek Nicholson. The city says their insurers are currently reaching out to other seriously injured victims.
Nicholson says that the interim payments "will provide early support for their recovery and ease the financial stresses arising from their injuries", and that the payments mean a "great deal in terms of assisting those who are struggling following this tragedy."
