A task force in Cornwall has seized 2,018 kilograms of tobacco.
Back on July 18th, the Cornwall Regional Task Force spotted two different transactions between boats and cars, attempting to illegally move tobacco.
The first seizure took place in the St-Anicet, Quebec where the task force secured 634 kilograms of contraband tobacco, a boat, and a car. A second car was later seized and a 27-year-old man from Beloeil, Quebec was arrested. He's facing charges of tobacco smuggling
The second happened in Bainsville, Ontario. Two men men were arrested along with the seizure of 1,384 kilograms of tobacco. Jean-Francois Veilleux from Terrebonne, Quebec and Antoine Jean from Valleyfield, Quebec face charges as well. They're set to appear in court September 4th.
Both locations face each other across the St. Lawrence River.
An investigation is ongoing.
