An Ottawa Police spokesperson says the altercation caught on video between a cyclist and motorist in Centretown this week should be a reminder about proper behaviour on the roads.
"'In the wrong or in the right;' a lot of times that doesn't matter" Constable Chuck Benoit told CFRA's News and Views with Rob Snow. "It has to be dealt with properly and safely for both parties."
"Both went over and above what should have happened."
The incident captured by a passerby in another vehicle shows a driver pushing his car into a cyclist.
Benoit says it happened after three o'clock last Wednesday afternoon.
"This was all about travelling in the same direction," he told CFRA. "Things occurred prior (to the camera rolling.) Both parties agreed they did something wrong."
Charges have not been laid and police say the case is closed.
Video of the standoff went viral locally.
