The Ottawa Food Bank released some shocking numbers on Tuesday.
This year's annual Thanks For Giving Food Drive brought in just over 18,000 pounds of food and $1,000 in donations which is down 50 per cent over last year.
Executive Director for the Foodbank, Michael Maidment explained that the recent warm weather may have played a part.
"I don't think it's that people are less generous, I think there were likely less people in stores. It (the holiday) snuck up on us this year."
Donations for the Thanks For Giving food drive can be made at grocery stores across the city or by going to the Ottawa Food Bank's website.
