Parents with concerns or questions about counterfeit pills, overdoses and addiction will gather at the Kanata Rec Centre on Thursday night.
The meeting has been organized by Sean O'Leary, the father to a teen who was addicted to pills.
O'Leary penned an open letter to fellow parents of addicts after the death of 14-year-old Chloe Kotval last week.
"When I saw kids dying... I think all of us would speak out if we know our children are dying or our friend's children are dying," O'Leary explained. "It's an epidemic. We're in a health crisis in the city of Ottawa."
He says the drug issue isn't just a Kanata problem as there is a lot of money in the trade and dealers are selling in other neighbourhoods across our region.
O'Leary said he wants families to come together to ask the questions and get the help they need, whether its counselling or even a Naloxone kit.
But he said this problem doesn't just affect the families of teens addicted to the drugs but to the general public.
"If you go to a public bathroom and say I'm going to do drugs. Are you going to do them on the counter sink where people are washing their hands and getting soap and germs?" he said. "Are you going to snort your percs of there or are you going to take the baby pad down where it's nice and clean cause they're putting their babies there."
The meeting for parents is being held at the Kanata Rec Centre in Hall A at 100 Charlie Rogers Place from 8:30 - 10 p.m.
