UPDATE 2:35 a.m.
Ottawa Paramedics say one person has died in Thursday night's serious crash involving an OC Transpo bus.
The 25-year-old male driver of the car that hit the bus head-on has died of his injuries. He was the victim who was trapped in the wreckage and extricated by firefighters.
Paramedics say the collision created a long trail of debris, as the front of the car, a Saturn Astra hatchback, partially disintegrated before finally hitting a metal construction trailer.
Paramedics also assessed and released the driver of the bus, a 58-year-old woman. She was initially trapped in the bus due to the extent of the front-end damage of the vehicle, but did not sustain any serious injuries.
Ottawa Police are conducting a collision investigation.
