The Festive RIDE campaign launched in late November and already the OPP are seeing a large number of impaired drivers across the province.
According to the OPP, over 230 impaired driving charges have been laid since the campaign began.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt explained that this number should be zero. So far this year, more than 270 people have died on Ontario roads with 38 a result of impaired driving.
He suggested that anyone holding a party or attending a party this weekend keep an eye out for anyone attempting to get behind the wheel while impaired.
"Make sure that it is socially unacceptable, that no one will get behind a wheel when they've been drinking," he said in a video posted on Periscope. "Take away their keys, because that is the right thing to do."
If you spot someone on the road that may be impaired, you're being asked to call 911.
Drivers caught impaired behind the wheel are facing an automatic license suspension; if they register over the legal limit they'll also lose their vehicle for 90 days.
