Ottawa Fire says no one was hurt as heavy smoke poured through part of the Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex in Orléans.
Firefighters were called to the rec centre on Youville Drive just before 7:30 p.m.
A light fixture had caught fire, sending smoke into some of the walls near the rink area, fire officials say.
Everyone inside evacuated safely and crews began ventilating the building.
