The Ontario government is fighting back after a judge ruled earlier today that the province crossed the line when it redefined ward boundaries in Toronto to limit council wards to 25.
Premier Doug Ford says his government will invoke the notwithstanding clause to overrule the judge's decision; a move never before seen from the Ontario government.
Ford says they will also be appealing the decision that found the province's move was unconstitutional.
This all ahead of the Oct. 22 municipal election.
Ford has said the move will save time and taxpayer dollars at Toronto City Hall.
