Fred Ennis, a former CFRA broadcaster, Ottawa journalist, and politician, has died.
Ennis passed away in his sleep Sunday. He was 71.
Ennis became News Director of CFGO (now TSN 1200) in Ottawa in 1976. He would go on to cover Parliament Hill as the Ottawa bureau chief of the Newsradio service. He then became the first Page Six columnist for the Ottawa Sun and later hosted a talk show on CFRA.
Ennis ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Nepean in 1997 and for Ottawa City Council in 2010.
College Ward councillor Rick Chiarelli tweeted that a celebration of life for Ennis will be held in the coming days.
