The Rideau Canal was transformed into the site of a fairy tale Wednesday, as a couple from the United Kingdom said their "I Do's" on the ice.
Alice Stanley and Roy Hamilton met about 15 years ago while refereeing hockey in England, and sported their black and white striped uniforms while tying the knot.
"What better place to do that than on the ice, you know? It's fantastic," said Hamilton.
But the marriage process wasn't exactly a smooth one. The couple faced challenges with their marriage documents when a package containing them was lost during the mailing process.
It was eventually found three days later.
"That was a bit stressful," said Hamilton. "A few swear words were thrown in FedEx's way but we got there in the end."
The two were wed close to the National Arts Centre.
