Gatineau Police say they've arrested nine people and seized a significant quantity of drugs following seven searches on Wednesday, including one in Ottawa.
Following an investigation that police say took several weeks, officers searched properties Wednesday on rue Front, rue Victor-Beaudry and boulevard d'Europe in Aylmer; rue Charles-Albanel and two apartments on rue Radisson in Hull; and – with the help of Ottawa Police – Othello Avenue in Ottawa.
Two men, aged 22 and 45, and a 23-year-old woman were in court Thursday, facing drug trafficking charges. Three men, between the ages of 23 and 51, and a 32-year-old woman were released on a promise to appear and will also be facing drug trafficking charges.
Two other men arrested during the investigation were released without charge.
Police say they seized the following:
• 41.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine
• 7 grams of crack
• 147 grams of cocaine
• 24 grams of Molly (an ecstasy derivative)
• 450 ecstasy tablets
• 1.6 grams of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)
• 1515 methamphetamine tablets
• 36.5 grams of powdered methamphetamine
• 7 grams of hashish
• 755 grams of marijuana
• 56 grams of alprazolam (Xanax)
• 4 vehicles
• More than $28,000 in Canadian currency
• Multiple cell phones
