Quebec Provincial Police say a 28-year-old Gatineau man is facing some stiff penalties after being pulled over on Highway 5.
The Sûreté du Québec say a car was clocked going 150 km/h in a 70 zone on a stretch of the highway in Gatineau at around 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
The driver was pulled over and arrested. Police allege he was intoxicated.
In addition to an expected impaired driving charge when he appears in court in September, police say the man is also facing a $1,523 ticket, 18 demerit points, and has had his license suspended for three months.
But that wasn’t the only alleged speeder police caught in that area.
Just a few hours earlier, at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police say they caught a 25-year-old man going 120 km/h in the same 70 zone. He’s facing an $806 fine, 10 demerit points, and had his license suspended for a week.
