Gatineau Police say an officer has been suspended with pay after being arrested and charged with making death threats.
Police say the officer in question was on duty Tuesday, when threats were made against City of Gatineau employees.
The officer was arrested this morning upon showing up to work.
Jonathan Lévesque is facing one count of uttering death threats and one count of criminal harassment.
He’s been released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
Gatineau Police, meanwhile, say the Quebec Ministry of Public Security has been notified, and an internal Professional Standards investigation will also be undertaken within the police service.
Gatineau Police say the force demands its officers maintain the highest possible ethical and professional standards, and that officers who are convicted of criminal offenses face dismissal from the Service.
