If your phone charger breaks, or if you just want a back-up to keep in the office, you may be tempted to opt for a cheap one from the dollar store, rather than shelling out the big bucks for a brand-name model.
But Health Canada is warning you that saving a few bucks early on can actually end up costing you a lot more in the long run.
27 uncertified USB chargers are being recalled over a risk of fire or electric shock. They were sold at various retailers across the country and are from a variety of manufacturers. If you have one of the recalled chargers, which can be seen below, stop using it immediately and either return it or throw it away.
Health Canada says you should be charging your electronics using only certified products. The certification marks below should be on the charger itself and not just the packaging it was sold in.
