Ottawa Public Health is reporting two human cases of West Nile Virus in our city.
According to OPH the two cases are considered "confirmed or probable." No other details have been announced.
So far this year, 14 of the 618 mosquito pools tested by Ottawa Public Health have tested positive for West Nile.
You're reminded to clear all standing water around your home to keep mosquito breeding grounds from developing.
You can reduce your risk of being bitten by mosquitoes by applying mosquito repellent, wearing long pants and long sleeved shirts made of tightly-woven fabrics, and by avoiding going out at dawn or dusk, when mosquitoes are most active.
