Hydro Ottawa says it will be cutting the power to about 48,000 homes and businesses this Sunday, as it works on critical repairs at the damaged Merivale transformer station.
The station was severely damaged in the Sept. 21, 2018 tornado that touched down in Arlington Woods. The damage to that station was a major contributor to the power outages that lasted for days in the west end.
Hydro Ottawa says, in a press release, the outage will be brief–from about 4:00 a.m. Sunday to 4:30 a.m.–but it will affect customers in almost a dozen wards (see map here).
2000 Hydro One customers will be affected as well.
Robocalls have gone out to affected customers to tell them about the outage.
Hydro Ottawa says work at the Merivale station will continue for “several months.”
