An investigation is underway after a close call at the Fallowfield Via Rail and OC Transpo crossing Thursday.
General Manager of Transportation Services John Manconi says at around 1:30 p.m., a bus carrying about six passengers nearly stopped on the train tracks as a Via Rail train was approaching.
Manconi says, in a written statement to city council and the mayor, the driver hit the brake when the traffic light turned yellow, but failed to stop. The bus ended up between the crossing gate and the rail tracks and the train drove by without incident, according to the statement.
As per protocol the incident has been reported to both Via Rail and Transport Canada.
