Kingston Police say officers are actively looking for an inmate who escaped from one of the facilities on the grounds of the Collins Bay Institution Sunday night.
It happened at the Henry Trail Community Correctional Centre around 7:30 p.m.
Kingston police confirmed early Monday morning the identity of the escaped inmate is 51-year-old David Maracle. He's described as First Nations, 200 lbs, 5'10", with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing grey and green cargo pants, a white t-shirt and a dark jacket or sweater.
Ontario Provincial Police are assisting Kingston Police in their search for Maracle. They are asking members of the public to remain vigilant and to call 911 if they observe a man who matches the provided description.
