One day after a local MPP was booted from the Progressive Conservative caucus; at least one member is demanding his resignation.
Nepean-Carleton MPP Lisa MacLeod wants Jack MacLaren to give up his seat in the riding of Carleton-Mississippi Mills.
"That seat has been in the conservative fold for 40 years,” MacLeod said to CTV Morning Live. “It’s not his seat, it's a progressive conservative seat"
MacLeod explained that she feels that his opinions do not reflect the PC party and his actions have let down his constituents.
MacLaren was kicked out the PC Party caucus on Sunday after a video from 2012 surfaced that shows him at an event talking about Franco-Ontarians, language rights and misleading voters in order to get elected.
PC Party leader Patrick Brown called the comments made 'the final straw' in his decision to remove MacLaren from the caucus.
Lisa MacLeod said that in recent months she had been taking over his role in the community by attending events and speaking to his constituents about the area.
"He is simply running around the province talking about land owner rights and not the needs of the people of Kanata-Carleton," she explained to CTV Morning Live on Monday. "I really think he should resign, I don't think he's in it for the right reasons and he's certainly not in it for the people he represents."
MacLaren announced on Sunday night that he would be joining the Trillium Party.
