The manager of a local pizza joint says he's disappointed he can no longer donate his pies to the Shepherds of Good Hope.
Jason Lee manages the Little Caesar's in Stittsville and says he donates up to 120 pizzas to the shelter every week.
But now, because of a policy change, Lee says those pizzas, which can't be sold, will have to go in the garbage.
"This is just such a waste," Lee says in his post.
In a statement, the shelter says it has changed its rule on prepared food items due to health and safety concerns.
The shelter says it has full confidence in its donors but it doesn't have a refrigerated truck or hot box, so it can't maintain and guarantee safe food handling during transportation.
Shepherds says some prepared food items are still being accepted but they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
