A St. Catharines Councillor has undergone successful surgery.
St. Andrew's ward Councillor, Joe Kushner, is recovering at home after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour.
The surgery took place at Hamilton General Hospital.
Kushner, who is the longest-serving councillor for the City of St. Catharines, is expected to make a full recovery.
Mayor Mat Siscoe says he wishes Kushner the best in his recovery.
Siscoe says residents, who live in the St. Andrews’ ward, are encouraged to reach out to Councillor Matt Harris, if they have any ward specific concerns.
Kushner has been a city councillor since 1976, and is also Brock University’s longest-serving faculty member.
Kushner is a Professor in the Department of Economics, and celebrated his 50th anniversary with the school back in 2020.
He donates his council salary to a variety of causes.
