A Canadian Armed Forces veteran says he and others had to convince an aggressive drunk man to stop sitting on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Photos shared by Terry Hunter show an unidentified man holding a beer can while sitting on the tomb at the National War Memorial on Monday night.
Hunter told Kris Sims on CFRA's Ottawa Now he was rudely rebuffed when he asked the man to leave.
"He basically told me where I could go," said Hunter.
Hunter describes the man getting into confrontations with seniors, including saying "I will leave whenever I 'blank, blank' want to" to a woman.
"I was trying to keep the situation calm," Hunter told CFRA.
Eventually the man was convinced to leave without police getting involved.
This is the latest reported incident of disrespect at the monument.
Two years ago a man was accused of miming sexual acts with a statue.
An infamous incident in 2006 saw a teen being caught on camera while treating the monument like a urinal.
