Ottawa Fire says a man was found frothing at the mouth at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre Tuesday afternoon, prompting a suspicious package investigation.
Firefighters say they were called by Ottawa Paramedics for hazardous materials assistance.
According to a press release from Ottawa Fire, the commander in charge at the Innes Road jail said up to 15 other inmates may have been contaminated.
However, Fire officials say there was no package to assess upon arrival.
Ottawa Police were also called in to assist; they were situated outside the jail.
Ottawa Paramedics say only one man was transported to hospital in stable condition, as a precaution.
