A big name is throwing his hat into the ring for a vacant provincial riding in Ottawa.
Former Ontario ombudsman André Marin was introduced by PC leader Patrick Brown as the Tory candidate in Ottawa-Vanier today.
Marin wasted no time going on the attack, saying he witnessed Liberal government mismanagement firsthand.
"(I heard) personal stories from Ontarians who filed complaints largely based on poor government policies," said Marin during a speech to supporters and media.
"Scandal and waste like spending $70-million on a failed pension plan which got nowhere off the ground, taking away money that should be going into repairing our schools."
The Ottawa-Vanier seat used to belong to Liberal Madeleine Meilleur, who stepped down in June.
A date for a by-election to fill the vacancy is yet to be announced.
The area has a strong Liberal history. Dating back to its time as part of the Ottawa East riding, voters have elected Liberal candidates since 1971.
