The City of Gatineau found itself in the grip of a massive power outage late Monday afternoon.
Hydro Quebec says 155,000 customers in Gatineau and its surrounding area lost electricity.
The loss was due to a transmission system failure, and the problem was found to originate from the Outaouais post.
The outage created major problems for people heading across the bridges from Ottawa into Quebec.
Gatineau Police were pleading for patience and courtesy.
Meanwhile, about 1,800 Hydro Ottawa customers lost power in the Glebe, near Riverside and Alta Vista and around Carleton University.
Hydro Ottawa says this was due to a loss of supply from Ontario's provincial grid.
It's unclear if this is connected to the Quebec outage.
All power in Ottawa had been restored by 5:30 p.m.
Lights were back in on Quebec by about 6:00p.m.
