Mayor Jim Watson has issued a questionnaire to candidates in the provincial Ottawa-Vanier byelection, looking to see where they stand on local issues.
The questionnaire asks candidates whether their parties will support Stage 2 of light rail construction and a third of the funding for a study on a downtown truck tunnel. It also asks candidates what they and their parties will do to support the ongoing problems of gun violence and affordable housing in the capital.
Watson says the responses to the four questions will be posted on the City of Ottawa's website once they're submitted.
Ottawa-Vanier will elect its new MPP, to replace former Liberal Madeleine Meilleur, Nov. 17. A federal byelection in the same riding, to replace Liber MP Mauril Belanger, has yet to be called.
