A 53-year-old motorcyclist is in hospital in serious condition after a head-on collision with a car in the west end, Ottawa Paramedics say.
This happened at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Superintendent Garth Tourangeau. The motorcyclist, he says, was travelling on Merivale before a vehicle attempted to turn onto Caldwell, hitting the motorcyclist.
Tourangeau says the man suffered injuries to his head, chest, and legs after ending up on the roof of the car.
He says paramedics are reminding motorists to be cautious on the roads as the temperature climbs.
"People have gotten comfortable, over the winter months, of not having to deal with anybody but themselves on the roads. So the motorists now have to share the roads with the motorcyclists, the cyclists, the joggers," he said. "More people are out and about so, unfortunately, collisions like this do occur."
Ottawa Police are investigating.
