The RCMP and Canada Revenue Agency officials descended on four Ottawa convenience stores and a home today for reasons that - for most of the day - remained unclear.
Officers were spotted at the Glebe Smoke Shop on Bank this morning, then later again at Zesty Market locations on Elgin and Rideau
The stores are under the same ownership.
The officers were seen looking at merchandise, documents and computers.
A statement provided by the CRA would not specifically address the nature of the searches.
However, it noted the Minister of National Revenue is "committed to cracking down on tax evasion."
