Just when you've shed some of your winter layers, a new cold snap approaches.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ottawa, Gatineau, and eastern Ontario, calling for a return to frigid temperatures ahead of the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to plunge Thursday night and remain bitterly cold until Sunday.
"Extreme cold warning criteria of minus 30 is expected to be met in many places Thursday night into Friday and again Friday night into Saturday," the statement says.
Temperatures are expected to warm up Sunday and be closer to seasonal norms into next week.
