The prospect of an outdoor NHL game in Ottawa next year is reportedly still alive.
The Sun's Bruce Garrioch is quoting sources saying Sens owner Eugene Melnyk has approved the idea of having players face off at TD Place.
"Melnyk still needs to sign off on this at the end," Garrioch told TSN 1200 this morning. "But I think while everyone was freaking out that he wasn't looking at it, I think he was looking at it and I think his office was looking at it."
There still needs to be discussion between the league, OSEG and other parties.
"I think if everyone's a little bit patient, they'll be just fine," said Garrioch.
The Sens had been pitching an outdoor game against the Montreal Canadiens at Parliament Hill next December.
That was derailed when the federal government said it wouldn't be possible.
