The provincial Special Investigations Unit has cleared two Ottawa police officers after a police chase in April of 2016 led to two deaths.
The two officers launched the chase around 1 a.m. on April 12th, 2016 after a vehicle refused to stop for them at Cumberland and George.
The chase was halted on Rideau, less than a kilometer from the start.
The 39 year old driver continued running red lights down Rideau, North River Road, and McArthur before plowing into another vehicle at the Vanier Parkway at a high rate of speed.
The 24 year old male driver of that vehicle was killed in the crash. His 21 year old passenger was seriously injured.
The suspect, also injured in the crash, died in hospital last December.
