The city is putting together a task force to handle the flood cleanup work, but officials say it will be some time before residents will be able to return to their homes.
The task force will handle all areas of the cleanup, such as health, power supplies, water quality, and waste disposal.
But CFRA's Kristy Cameron said it'll be a month or more before homes are in liveable condition.
"The city manager (Steve Kanellakos) says it's probably realistic to have a timeline of about four weeks," said Cameron.
"Even then, it's not going to be the same old normal - it'll be different."
Water quality is an important issue to be taken up by the task force, with polluted water contaminating buildings, flooded homes, and water supplies.
Among the plans - handing out bottled water to residents, bringing in portable showers and toilets, and water testing of local wells and water supplies.
The city has established four flood resource centres at the locations of the recent public meetings.
The locations include:
• Community Hall at the R.J. Kennedy Arena, 1115 Dunning Road (Cumberland)
• Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre East Parking Lot, 102 Greenview Avenue (Britannia)
• Constance and Buckham’s Bay Community Centre, 262 Len Purcell Drive (Woodlawn)
• Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre, 100 Clifford Campbell Street (Fitzroy Harbour)
The centres will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday - the following days' schedules will be released later in the week.
