A 60 year Ottawa man is facing several charges after police seized about 15 grams of Fentanyl in a raid on a Caldwell Avenue apartment Tuesday.
Royston Christie is facing two counts of possession of drugs for the purposes of trafficking, and one each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Three women and two men between the ages of 28 and 49 are also wanted by police in connection with the investigation.
Staff Sergeant Rick Carey, of the Ottawa Police drug unit, says it's clear that the dangerous drug is becoming more available in the city, and residents must be aware of the dangers.
In the past week, there have been at least 28 opioid overdoses treated in Ottawa's hospitals.
Officials are still doing tests to determine how many of them may have involved Fentanyl.
