A 36-year-old man was transported hospital with only minor injuries after a crash in Centretown.
Just around 3:30 p.m. Friday, the man's car slammed into a tree at the corner of Elgin Street and Argyle Avenue.
While the man needed to be extricated, Ottawa Paramedics say he suffered minor injuries.
The crash caused traffic delays in all directions around the Museum of Nature while crews worked to free the man and remove the destroyed car.
Andrew Schofield tells CTV News he saw the whole thing.
"I was standing on the corner of Park and Elgin and I heard this loud boom," he says. "I saw this bike rack go flying about 20 feet. I saw this fire hydrant, the top of it just went shooting like a cannon ball, and then I saw the aftermath, this Ford Escape just plowed into a tree. The front end was completely totalled. I went to check on the guy and he was okay, but it was something else. I've never seen anything like it."
The driver was the only person in the vehicle.
