Ontario premier Doug Ford has announced details of a commission, to be led by former B.C. premier Gordon Campbell, that will look at the province's finances.
The inquiry will look into suggestions the previous liberal government understated its deficit by billions of dollars.
"The commission will operate independently at arm's length from the government," Ford said. "And to be provided with resources and mandate that it needs to get the job done quickly."
The province says the inquiry will be done its work in just six weeks.
