The "Ottawa 2017 Cauldron" will be lit for Winterlude.
Some people have questioned why the cauldron at Ottawa City Hall has been dark since New Year's Day.
Ottawa 2017 Executive Director Guy Laflamme tells "The Newsfeed with Kristy Cameron" that the original plan was always to only light the cauldron for special occasions and events.
Laflamme says to create a "magical effect," Ottawa 2017 won't burn the cauldron all the time. He adds Ottawa 2017 must also show "environmental sensitivity."
The Ottawa 2017 Cauldron will be lit during Winterlude, the Red Bull Crashed Ice event in March and the JUNO Awards.
