Six decades ago, a man robbed a bank in Ottawa. This summer, he returned to the scene of the crime.
In 1958, Boyne Johnston was working as a teller at the Imperial Bank of Canada on Sparks Street.
And one day, he walked off the job with around $260,000.
Johnston then fled to the United States, where he spent 17 days on the run, living the high life before he was captured in a Colorado night club.
Today on The Evan Solomon Show, Johnston said he regrets nothing.
"I'd do it all over again," said Johnston, "but for a different reason than you think. Not for the money -- for the experience in prison. In my lifetime, I appreciate my freedom so much, every day, every minute (more) than sitting in a jail or a prison for years. That, you just can't comprehend until you experience it yourself."
The bank Johnston robbed 60 years ago is now a restaurant called the Riviera. This month he was able to go back where it all started and have a drink.
