The Ottawa Food Bank is hoping to "Tackle Hunger" this weekend.
At Friday's REDBLACKS game, and at Saturday's Ottawa Fury match, the food bank will be asking fans to bring a non-perishable food donation to help increase their supplies.
The executive director of the Food Bank, Michael Maidment, said donations fall off dramatically over the summer.
"Summer's really quiet but the need doesn't go down," Maidment said.
"So this program, coming right at this time, helping us to restock the shelves, is really perfect."
Maidment said they're hoping to bring in 50-thousand pounds of food during the drive.
He added if you don't want to bring a food item, a cash donation is also valuable to them.
Because the food bank purchases food items in large quantities from generous food industry partners, every dollar they receive has five times the usual buying power.
