In a bid to save their 2019 USL season, the Ottawa Fury say they're taking CONCACAF to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The North American governing body for soccer is seeking to stop Ottawa from playing in the USL's upcoming season, and instead force them to play in Canada's new top division, the Canadian Premier League.
CONCACAF say now that Canada has its own professional league, the Fury should be playing in it, as there are no exceptional circumstances to warrant them playing in another country's league.
The rules governing the Canadian Soccer Association and CONCACAF require that disputes such as these be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport
When first asked to join the Canadian Premier League, the Fury said they would be choosing to stay in the USL for the time being.
Now the team says in this current situation, and their future up in the air, they are unable to sign players or sell tickets.
The club say they are just four weeks out from training camp, and will be hoping for a ruling from the CAS soon.
