Ottawa is joining a line up of cities hoping to woo Amazon and become the retail giant's second home.
On Thursday the Seattle-based company announced it is looking for the best location for a second headquarters and Mayor Jim Watson has already signaled his interested.
In a statement, Watson says he has asked Invest Ottawa and the Economic Development committee to explore the idea.
"Ottawa certainly fits their criteria with its educated workforce, strong research and innovation ecosystem, new Light Rail Transit system coming to stream in 2018 and its proximity to a large and thriving market within easy reach of our highways and International airport," says Watson in the statement.
The mayors of Toronto and Vancouver have also expressed interest in the opportunity.
Amazon says it expects to pick the location by next year.
