There's some distressing news about the prospect of an outdoor NHL game in Ottawa.
With Parliament Hill out of the picture, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman remarked today the league is examining having a Founders Day game in a different city entirely.
Furthermore, Bettman says the Ottawa Senators have not expressed interest in hosting an outdoor game somewhere else in the capital.
Last week, Mayor Jim Watson held a meeting with Sens owner Eugene Melnyk saying their discussions were positive.
He did admit Melnyk was not keen on having the game at TD Place.
That may not have been possible as a date being offered up by the league for the Founders Day game is November 26, 2017.
That would be the exact same day Ottawa is set to host the CFL's Grey Cup championship.
